Book 1

Debra L MorrisonThis book offers a plan with easy-to-follow practical steps to help you locate, organize and begin to understand your finances when you first become widowed.  With empathy and sensible advice, Debra Morrison shares all that she has learned helping widows throughout her seasoned career as a fee-only Certified Financial Planner®.  Whether it’s 9 p.m. on a Sunday night, or at their hospital bedside, Debra has always been there for her clients, and never more closely than when she worked, pro-bono, with many of the widows created by 9/11.

“Debra’s step by step approach for widows to “get their finances in order” is right on target. Her advice will save you time and money. A must-read.”

Aurora Winter, Founder, Grief Coach Academy and Author, ‘From Heartbreak To Happiness’

Book II

Widow Financial LifelineIn book 1, I advised everyone to hold on any decision making for the full first year. Well, now that that time has passed…you are faced with what I call ‘The Decision Zone’.  It’s no easier time than before, which is what has prompted me to write Book II.  In it, I will address the following (among many other tricky issues)

1)      When can you feel confident enough to dare venture through the non-stop tears, the angst and profound sadness into even imagining yourself as a functional being again? How do you know if you’re whole again or not?

2)      Who is safe to listen to? In the face of overwhelming sadness kind friends, loving family members and helpful neighbors will all rush forward with unsolicited advice.  Few of those people have expertise in financial planning for anyone, let alone a grieving widow with some big decisions to make.

3) What is the order of decisions that have to be made? And does each one impact another? Are they really a set of dominoes where each one affects the next and so on?

This time – The Decision Zone – can be a rewarding chapter of renewal and self-discovery. I hope it is for you. I wrote this book with that goal in mind. Hopefully you will allow me to guide you on your journey; this next chapter can be an intriguing, rewarding period of discovery and alternatives.  As with so many things, this The Decision Zone, is best taken one step at a time.
